Kylee’s Road to Recovery ❤️

As many of you know, on Tuesday, December 6, one of our local high school seniors attempted to cross the street to board her school bus, when the unthinkable happened. Every parents worst nightmare from the very first time we put our babies on the bus in Kindergarten occurred, and she was struck by a vehicle at a high rate of speed.
There are many stories circling the events that morning. Some miscommunications, some truths, some partial truths, and some things that are down right lies. Regardless of what version of the story you’ve heard, the facts remain that this young lady is now severely traumatized mentally, devastated emotionally, and physically broken and bruised.
At the time of the accident, she went into the vehicles windshield and then she was sent flying approximately 20 feet, slamming into the pavement. She was knocked unconscious on impact with the pavement. Thankfully her mother was at her side instantly, as she began seizing.
Although it felt like a lifetime, our amazing first responders arrived very quickly to begin treating her. Although in and out of consciousness, they got her stabilized and they raced her to the hospital.
After many X-rays and tests, the doctors concluded that her lower lumber (lower spine) is fractured, her pelvis is fractured, she has severe bruising on her left arm (shoulder and elbow) which they initially soft casted, and severe concussion, lacerations on her forehead that required 10-15 stitches, road rash down her arm and back, and some nasty bruises from head to toe. So while she is pretty banged up, she is alive and very thankful for that!
In the aftermath of this, she and her mother are left in a serious bind. Along with the physical pain and the emotional and mental trauma, they are left in a financial bind right before Christmas. Although she is 18, she is newly 18, still in high school, and living at home with her mother as her sole caregiver. Unfortunately, due to her father passing away years ago, her mother is widowed and the only provider in the home, and now she has to miss work from her newer job to take care of her around the clock and to take her to and from appointments, among other things she needs.
Many people have expressed a desire to help and after much consideration, her mother finally agreed to allow us to start this. This is not to beg for help, but simply a request for prayers, love, support, and a place where those who want to help them out can. We just want to try and help them make it through this without any more obstacles getting in their way. The funds earned will go directly to them to help with lost wages, bills so they don’t fall behind while out of work, medical supplies, funds needed for doctors appointments, and any other things that come up during this uncertain time. They are great people that have already endured many obstacles in life and we really just want to make this a time that she can heal without the added stress of financial ruin due to this unfortunate and terrifying experience.
Thank you all so much! Please keep the prayers coming, and know that she and her family appreciate all of the love and support that’s been given thus far!
