Support Julie's Fight Against Breast Cancer
Spende geschützt
For those of you who don’t know, Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2025. This diagnosis came as quite a shock to her and to all of us. Jules, in her warrior ways, has been doing all she can to continue to work and care for her children as she navigates this life-changing news while processing her new reality.
Jules could really use the support of her community right now to help her, Nyonchele, and Naaye through this more than challenging time.
Jules had to miss many days of work in order to go to multiple appointments after her diagnosis: assembling her surgical team, breast imaging, biopsies, etc. Her paid time off has already been exhausted. With advice from her medical team, she is no longer working nights to decrease the stress on her body and better prepare her physically for her upcoming double mastectomy. Beyond all of this, she had to immediately start taking medication to help prevent the tumors from growing and spreading. The side effects of these essential medicines have been incredibly harsh, keeping her from being able to maintain her full-time workload as she also balances being a single mother and managing a whirlwind of doctor's appointments. Her bills are increasing, yet her paychecks are smaller, which is why, with Julie's blessing, we are creating this GoFundMe page. Having financial support is crucial right now.
As a midwife and nurse, Julie has worked selflessly to provide compassionate and loving care to people in this community for the last two decades. She has prioritized taking care of the needs of others above her own. It is time for her to be able to take care of herself, rely on the community she has served, fight this cancer, and continue down the long road of survivorship.
If you are able to help out at all, it would mean so much to Julie.
Your donation will help with the following:
- Supplement the lost wages due to needing to miss work without paid time off. (She will also need to work reduced hours after her surgery as she goes through the process of recovery and prepares for her follow-up surgery, which will take place several months after her double mastectomy.)
- Go directly towards paying medical bills that have not been covered by insurance, which are already adding up.
- Allow Julie to schedule acupuncture and other healing appointments, which will be particularly helpful as she recovers from surgeries and learns to live with the side effects of her new medication.
- Help with the purchase of specialty bras for post-mastectomy support.
- Allow Julie to buy nourishing foods to help her and her kids stay healthy during this stressful time.
If you are able, please consider donating to help create a container of support for Julie and her family at this time, as they navigate this journey of cancer.
