Help for the Padilla Family

Katherine Padilla, wife to Jeff and mother to Gianna, Angela, David, and baby girl on the way are in need of our help and prayers.

Katherine has been in and out of the hospital as both of her lungs have now collapsed. They have been reinflated with temporary chest tubes, there is evidence that she has a cystic lung disease causing many abnormal cyst growths all over her lungs. They believe this is a degenerative lung disease called LAM. However, confirmed diagnosis waits for the results of genetic testing and biopsy.

Last week Katherine had a successful surgery to place new longer term tubes in her chest which will be able to keep her lungs inflated until their baby girl is born hopefully in December near her due date. They will also take a surgical biopsy of her lung to confirm the diagnosis so they can begin to see specialists and prepare for treatment.

Unfortunately due to the pregnancy and her body being more sensitive, she is still in a lot of pain. They cannot use the usual pain medications because of pregnancy. She is slowly recovering and was moved out of the ICU last night. Once they are able to get her off of the oxygen and iv pain medication, she can go home.

Katherine and Jeff are very grateful and humbled by any and all support! They will be using the funds to help pay for medical bills and childcare so Jeff can spend time with Katherine in recovery.
