Hi! My name is Moxie and I'm raising money to make my April rent. I need help with this very urgently. I've been looking really hard for work for several months now, but to no avail. I've applied to many, many places online and even many places in person with a bag full of resumes in hand. I was a full-time student until near the end of last year, and I was on the CESB back then, but I didn't even earn enough to qualify for the CERB. Now I probably owe money I don't even have for my 2020 taxes on top of owing rent I can't currently afford. I was also robbed right before Christmas, and the thief took my passport. I got the police involved right away, but they still haven't caught the guy. I had to cancel my passport and file for new ID, which I need for one of the ways I was going to earn some money, but it won't arrive until the end of the month. Until then, I don't know what I'll do besides relentlessly keep applying for jobs and advertising commission work. Sometimes I wonder what I'm doing wrong to deserve such bad luck.
Even if I got a job immediately, I would almost certainly not make enough money in time. If I had some generous people donate to help me out, however, I would have more time to get work and sell things like art so I could make my rent in May. I'm also looking into getting onto disability, income assistance or hardship assistance if all else fail, though I'd rather work full-time and contribute as much as I can to society.
Last year was really hard for everyone due to Covid, I know, but it was even harder for me because I lost my mum in May and I loved her the most out of all the people I've ever known. I didn't get an inheritance from her since the money went straight to my dad. His case manager was helping me out financially before, but I won't be receiving any of that help anymore and I don't have enough money for next month's rent now. I don't even have enough money to move- especially since my landlords want me to pay for a house cleaner whenever I leave.
My birthday is later this month (March), and the greatest gift of all for me this year would be peace of mind- knowing that I have more time to live in this beautiful rented home of mine I have come to love and cherish. It would mean so much to me. I would be extremely grateful to all those who help me make it through these rough times. I will use any money left over to go grocery shopping and help out a friend of mine who's also going through rough times.
