Mission Trip to Tanzania
Donation protected
Greetings! To fulfill our vision of being a real church of the real God to the real world, members of Uptown Baptist Church are preparing to go to Tanzania this summer. Our mission is to fulfill UBC’s commitment to adopting the Zaramo people group and equip indigenous church leaders in Tanzania. Our objectives are to collaborate with ministry partners to:
1. Start the groundwork for digging a well for a fresh water source
2. Equip future church leaders & believers for the work of ministry
3. Encourage the saints in a difficult mission field where God is at work
4. Enlist local church planters to plant churches among the Zaramos
The Zaramo are a Bantu tribe living on the coastal plains and low hills on the southern coast of Tanzania, in a rural horseshoe around Dar es Salaam. They are subsistence farmers, living on the coastal plains of Southern Tanzania around Dar es Salaam. They are Folk Muslims, following Islam but still making sacrifices to a spirit called ‘Kolelo’ and fearful of witchcraft and being poisoned. While there we look forward to providing encouragement and fellowship with Richard and Karen Lee, long-time missionaries with the International Missions Board (www.imb.org ). The dates of the trip are from July 28 through August 11 (14 days). Every place we visit we seek “to equip God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up (Ephesians 4).”
The team will be led by UBC Senior Pastor Michael Allen and he will be joined by members John and Jamila Watson and Schivon Braswell. We are blessed to be co-laborers with Christ in His harvest field.
In order to go on this trip, each member of the team participated in a Missions Intensive Training Conference led by the IMB and must attend monthly planning meetings. In addition, each person must enlist a prayer and financial support team to help ensure a successful mission. The trip cost is approximately $2,500 per person which includes air fare, lodging, meals and in-country transportation.
Would you commit to pray for us and give a special gift designated to the Acts 1:8 Mission Fund of UBC to enable every team member to accomplish the mission?
