On behalf of Danilo Ocampo ( in Manila Philippines), our family is seeking monetary donations to fund medical expenses not covered by health insurance. Would you consider donating to this fund so my family doesn’t have to bear the brunt of the costs of the medical care we are aiming to raise $75,000.00
In November 2019 my father was diagnosed with LUPUS-SLE Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), is the most serious form of Lupus. SLE can affect almost any organ or system in the body including blood vessels, muscles, joints, the digestive tract, lungs, kidneys, heart and central nervous system. SLE is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks its own tissues, causing widespread inflammation and tissue damage in the affected organs. It can affect the joints, skin, brain, lungs, kidneys, and blood vessels. There is no cure for lupus, but medical interventions and lifestyle changes can help control it.
On Friday, May 29, my father was sitting on his reclining chair, bent backwards and fell off the chair landing on his back he was brought to the Emergency room and was subsequently admitted. He was taken to ICU and diagnosed with Spinal cord compression with cord edema (C4-C5) and Neurogenic shock secondary to central cord syndrome. He was in a hospital until June 18.
July 22 being 74 years old and with a compromised immune system due to his Lupus, he got tested positive with COVID19 along with my 2 sisters, 7 year old nephew and my 2 nieces. Not having the funds available to bring him to the hospital he decided to stay home. We thought he got the mild form of Covid19 as my father didn't show any serious problems.
On August 15, our father Danilo Ocampo was admitted to the hospital due to severe stomach aches. A day later, after the emergency surgery to remove his dead gallbladder his condition suddenly worsened, his oxygen levels dropped and became unresponsive. The medical staff had given him extra oxygen and it wasn't working. He wasn't breathing well and they made the decision to put him on a respirator . The doctors have explained that putting the ventilation machine will help him breathe so that the body can rest. His kidney functions are worsening; they have started 24/7 dialysis showing a gradual improvement. His Heart is stressed out due to the infections And they had to do a shock heart procedure. Our beloved father Danilo continues to fight for his life in the ICU. This is a heart-wrenching situation as my father is experiencing multi organ weaknesses.
My family is living through the most challenging time of our lives. My father has the biggest heart and always brings positive energy and laughter to those around him. As you can imagine, the medical bills are increasing. It is with a heavy heart that we ask for your support for financial assistance for the mounting medical bills. As he continues to fight very hard and is currently in a very critical state, we all truly believe the thoughts, prayers, and positive energy from everyone is what’s helping him fight and giving him strength. My father is in the best hands right now and we have faith in his recovery. If you are praying folks, please pray for a miracle. We serve a God of power who loves to heal against the odds, so please pray for a full recovery for my father. We have become so overwhelmed emotionally and financially, that the time has come to humbly ask for help. We are asking for your help. Monetary donations are what we need the most. Donations large or small will be overwhelmingly appreciated. We are asking all who are able to please help us. Whatever amount you can find in your hearts and wallet. I know in these uncertain times that many are out of work.
About Danilo Ocampo
How Dad deals with family:
You'll receive so much love from him with his own special way. Although we're all grown up and have our own families, he still looks after us and cares for us like no other. Growing up, the six siblings are afraid of him because our father is very strict with us not because he's bad but because he wants the best for all of us. He teaches all of us all the values and morals we must live by. And he himself lives by all the values. He believes in practicing what he preaches. So we find our father very honest and very vocal.
How Dad deals with other people:
Our father is kind and generous. If anyone approaches him with a genuine need he helps them to whatever extent he can to the extent that he won't leave any money for himself. And he never grudges any help he offers. He's known for having a kind heart and being helpful. He's happy when he can help the poor to bring a smile on their faces. He is ready to help anyone who may stand in need of his help at any time, in whatever way he can, with no expectations. He likes to make the people around him happy. So he has a number of good friends, and they all love and respect him. My father is a generous and kind person. He helps people in our neighborhood. When anyone in our locality has a problem they seek his counsel.
How Dad deals with children:
My father also teaches the poor children in a slum nearby. The children love him and are delighted to be with him and learn from him. On weekends he will spend his precious time bringing food to the slum area and handing the small children money so they can buy the little things that they can't afford to buy.
