On November 20th, Sam’s building in Woodbury, NY experienced a sudden fire that spread quickly. In the chaos, Sam lost everything she owned — but the greatest loss of all was her beloved Golden Retriever, Theo. Theo was trapped inside as the smoke spread, and despite emergency responders’ best efforts, he passed away from smoke inhalation.

Theo wasn’t “just a dog.” He was Sam’s family, her comfort, her joy, and her constant companion. Losing him so suddenly and tragically has been devastating, and Sam is trying to navigate both the emotional heartbreak and the reality of rebuilding her life from nothing.
