My Story:

On June 3rd, 2023, at just 23 years old, my life was forever changed. I was on holiday in Cardiff, Wales when I fell 15 feet near a waterfall. I was immediately airlifted to the hospital and underwent emergency, life-saving surgery. The doctors discovered I had broken my T12 vertebra, fractured my C5 and my skull, and suffered internal bleeding and brain swelling.

After a month of being unconscious, my family was prepared for the possibility that I may not fully regain my mental faculties, as the doctors warned I could remain in a prolonged state of post-traumatic amnesia indefinitely. When I finally regained consciousness, I was devastated to learn that my paralysis was likely to be permanent.

I loved an active, independent lifestyle. I enjoyed paddle boarding, hiking, and spending time outdoors with my friends and family. This was my passion, and it's all changed now that I'm bound to a wheelchair. But my one mission is to walk again, to regain my independence, and to get back to living the life I had planned.

The small but massive victories keep me going. Now I can lift my leg a little, it feels like seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Those moments make me so happy and determined to keep pushing. I'm eager to share these small wins with my loved ones because they show my body is healing and I'm making progress, step-by-step. Each small gain drives me to work harder in therapy and never give up on reclaiming my independence.

My recovery is far from over, though. I am now regularly attending specialised rehabilitation sessions at Neurokinex, which provides vital electrical stimulation and other therapies to help rejuvenate my spine and continue my physical and cognitive progress. Each session costs £80, or £120 with electrical stimulation. I'm also planning to incorporate hydrotherapy and work with a dedicated physical therapist to push my recovery even further.

My family and friends have been incredibly supportive, and following the journeys of others who've overcome similar injuries inspires me. Knowing I'm making progress that exceeds expectations gives me massive hope to keep pushing, even on the most frustrating days.

The doctors said I wouldn't be able to walk, but I've already exceeded their expectations, and I know I will continue to do so with your support. Your generous donations will help me cover the ongoing costs of my rehabilitation and give me the best chance of regaining my independence, mobility, and mental faculties.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story. Your compassion and any contributions, no matter how small, mean the world to me as I fight to reclaim my life. I am endlessly grateful for your kindness and belief in my recovery journey.
