Hi everyone,

We want to start off by thanking everyone who has reached out to our family. As some of you may already know, our father was hospitalized a little over a month ago. He originally went to St Joe's due to severe back pain while he was able to walk and they gave him medication without further testing. A few days later he lost all movement in his arms and legs. He was rushed to Etobicoke General Hospital and scans/imaging (which St Joe's should have done but didn't) showed that he had an abscess on his spine with a blood infection that caused the paralysis. He was then transferred to Trillium Hospital to have spinal surgery shortly after. Our father is a fighter and has had many battles since being hospitalized that he continues to overcome. After surgery, he was slowly able to regain movement in his arms and he continues to show improvement daily. He still has limited movement in his legs and feet with very little feeling. He was able to move his feet about two weeks after surgery. The healing process for this type of injury is unpredictable and can take a long time so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Donations will go towards many different things; rehab and physio equipment, legal fees, travel expenses, additional physio/Rehab costs (the government only covers physio up to a certain point), medical supplies, construction costs for disability accessibility etc. Thank you everyone to has reached out.
