Hi friends,

I’m reaching out today on behalf of my dear friends Deanna and Sawyer, and their beloved dog, Phil. From the very beginning, Phil has been deeply loved by both of his parents, and Sawyer’s care and devotion to him deserves recognition. While I’ve known Sawyer for many years, I’ll be sharing this story from the perspective of my best friend, Deanna.

Phil came into Deanna's life about five years ago as a rescue. From the start, he had a few quirks and challenges, but through patience, trust, and unconditional love, the two of them built an incredible bond. If you’ve ever heard the phrase “soul dog,” that’s what Phil is to Deanna. They were meant to find each other, and their connection has only grown deeper with time.

Last week Phil was involved in an unexpected accident, which resulted in a dislocated hip. He is currently unable to weight bear on his back leg. After x-rays and consultations, the vets confirmed that he now requires a full hip replacement. His surgery is scheduled for September 8th, and the cost is coming in at $12,000. This doesn’t include any future rehab or unexpected fees related to his treatment.

If you know Deanna, you know she is the first person to show up for her community. She has a way of making people feel seen, loved, and important. Her spirit is infectious, her generosity boundless, and she has stood beside so many of us through life’s ups and downs. Deanna is the kind of friend who surprises you with flowers on your birthday, who checks in when you need it most, and who makes everyone around her feel cared for. She has poured so much love into her people, and now it’s our turn as a community to rally around her and Phil.

Phil is handling this with so much bravery and good spirit, but the truth is he needs our help. With surgery and rehab, he’ll be back to the playful, squirrel-chasing, affectionate boy we all know and love. Helping Deanna cover these costs means giving Phil the chance at a long, happy, pain-free life, and giving Deanna some peace of mind in the process.
