Hello, my name is Maureen. I'm a fur baby mom to a gorgeous dog named ZoieBells. Last week, I took her in to see her veterinary doctor for a cough and lethargy, hoping for an antibiotic and well-wishes. That is not what happened. My sweet Zoie has been diagnosed with heart disease, and congestive heart failure is our main issue. The heart is quite enlarged as well. This has been unexpected, and devastating news.

Her care requires expensive medications, and a special prescription diet to help her live more comfortably. The medications and diet will cost approximately $3-400+ per month, and that is without the routine ‘follow-up veterinary exams’ needed to monitor her well-being and bloodwork. Unfortunately, I did not purchase pet insurance. My hope is to raise enough funds to care for her for the next year. Her prognosis is 12-18 months, per the veterinarian. Zoie is otherwise healthy, so I’m glad we discovered this now.

Financial Resources for assistance with sick and dying pets are very limited, and highly restrictive. My fixed income will be more than challenged in trying to meet these added expenses, and that is why I’m seeking donations. Millions of dogs go undiagnosed, and / or untreated for heart disease, and suffer horribly at the end of their lives. Many are euthanized because of the expense of medication, which is very sad. There are rebates, however, one medication will still cost $200+ monthly.

There are so many people going through extreme loss, extreme hardship, and fighting battles unimaginable right now! Asking for help feels so uncomfortable to me.
