Zogg Fire Claims Schlueter Families' Homes
Donation protected

What happened: On the afternoon of September 27th the Zogg Fire started and then fueled by high winds roared through the tiny communities of Igo and Ono in Shasta County, California where my 99 year-old grandma, my parents, and my brother all had their homes. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-09-29/california-fire-that-killed-3-explodes-as-firefighters-struggle-with-lack-of-resources Unfortunately, all three of their homes burned totally and completely to the ground. (The photo in the linked article is an actual image of my brother's house on fire!) Thankfully, they all made it out safely along with the majority of their pets. One of my parent's cats was found 8 days later, when they were finally allowed to return to the property to survey the damage. He had severe burns on all his little paws, singed fur, whiskers, and eyebrows and in need of immediate veterinary care--but he was alive!!

Both my parents and my brother were able to hook up their camp trailers to their trucks and flee, but with only minutes to spare there was no time to take much more than the clothes on their backs . While their camp trailers at least provide them a temporary roof over their heads, they lost almost everything else. As in most of these tragic fire losses, their insurance is minimal but their needs are great. Every little bit helps as they try to replace their homes and all their destroyed household items. (At this time my grandmother's needs are being met and she is living with my aunt in Southern California.) We thank you for your consideration and help in getting the rest of the family back on their feet.
