Hi everyone,
My name is Zoey and if you know me, you know that I have always identified outside of the gender binary. When I was 5, I would tell people that I wanted to grow up to be a boy or a dog.
My journey has been long and trying, but I can confidently say that I am now READY for gender affirmation surgery. For 10 years, I thought my only option was to "cope with" being a woman and "cope with" the body that came along with it. In the last few years, I have done extensive self exploration and therapy that has landed me in my current gender nonconforming identity.
I cannot say how thankful I am that the world has taken this huge step toward talking more about various identities, having actionable steps to feel like myself, and the increasing verbiage to describe my experience.
When I was 12 (17 years ago), I first had the active and conscious thought that I was born into the wrong body, there was nowhere near the language or representation surrounding trans identities and gender affirmation procedures.
Now, I have FINALLY gotten to the point after all of these years where I am READY to have top surgery. Unfortunately, insurance companies do NOT make this easy. I was, luckily, finally able to get my insurance to cover it. I’m raising money to meet my deductible ($1,700) and copay ($250) and I hope you’ll join me in this journey! Anything over that amount will support Avery and I during the weeks following surgery when I am unable to work
Thank you for being a part of my story.
