Zoeys Journey with Shones Complex
Donation protected
Zoey Elise Jones was born on February 15th, 2019 with a congenital heart defect called Shone’s Complex. On February 26th, 2019 she had her first open heart surgery to repair a coarctation of her aortic arch. In August she had a her second open heart surgery to remove scar tissue from the first surgery that was making her heart do more work. In March of this year Zoey was having trouble breathing so her mommy and daddy rushed her to the ER And on March 24th she had her third open heart surgery for a mitral valve repair and Aortic membrane removal. She has also had numerous heart caths and lets not forget the multiple times she has been on ECMO (bypass).
As of today May 4th, 2020 Zoey has been in the hospital for 40 days. She started at Akron Children's Main and was transported to Cleveland Clinic for their Heart Failure and Transplant team.
We also found out today that due to the weakening of Zoey’s myocardium, the surgical team at Cleveland Clinic believes that fixing her valves will not resolve her issues. It may put a bandaid on things but it would only be a matter of time before she would completely crash or need more intervention.

Zoey needs a new heart. She needs a transplant.
As of now the plan is to have another open heart surgery to partially repair valves and also place her on a device called Berlin Heart while she awaits her new heart. She will have to remain hospitalized until a new heart is available.
Zoey’s parents are Jeannine and Tom Jones. They’re wonderful and selfless human beings and absolutely AMAZING parents. Zoey also has a wonderful big sister Jillian Harper who is going to be celebrating her 3rd birthday in the next two weeks! Jeannine and Tom are doing the absolute best they can to split their time and be there for both of their girls But being away from home can be extremely hard, especially during a pandemic. They take turns going back and forth and staying here and there.

They have a great support system between their families and friends. Zoey has SO MANY people rooting for her to continue to fight and come home.
We all know that medical bills can be rough but on top of that they are having to figure out living expenses due to the hospital being an hour and a half away from home. No one wants to be that far from their sick kiddo.
I know we are going through some tough times right now with COVID-19 but please if you can help, donate or at the very least share this. Let’s help get this family some sort of relief during this trying time.
Where do I come into this? I met Zoey’s Aunt five years ago and we have been friends ever since. I love Zoey and her sister. I would not wish any of this on any one and to think that this family is going through this devastates me.
No one deserves support more than this family.
