Zoe's 2016 Harvard Summer Program
Donation protected
To whom it may concern,
Being able to attend a summer program at an Ivy League college, such as Harvard University, is a great academic opportunity. It is an “immersive, collaborative, and transformative” program that will allow me to “thrive in a dynamic, supportive academic environment.” I applied for this program, aimed towards “mature, academically motivated students”, and was accepted for 2016. It is an honor to be selected, as the selection process for this program is very competitive. (http://www.summer.harvard.edu/high-school-programs/pre-college-program)
I am writing to you in search of financial donations to attend Harvard’s educational pre-college program.
I am a 15 year old Toledo Technology Academy sophomore. I also attend the University of Toledo as a full-time student. I have maintained a 4.5 grade point average at TTA and a 4.0 at the University of Toledo.
I am a regular volunteer at places like the Toledo Lucas-County Public Library and for the Toledo Roadrunners Club. I have done other volunteer work in the area too.
I believe that attending Harvard’s summer program would give me the experience needed to take full advantage of academic opportunities.
Tuition for this program is $4,200, which includes a 30 hour course, and room and board. A health insurance fee of $75 is part of the cost, along with transportation expenses. I have many food sensitivities and will most likely incur additional meal costs.
I have been awarded $2100 from Harvard, however that is half of what is due. I am looking to raise the other $2100 for tuition and donations towards my dietary needs food expenses and travel.
As a TPS student, I am fortunate to have a school system which allows me to use all my academic capabilities to the fullest. I am appreciative of the College Credit Plus program which gives me opportunities beyond the regular academic curriculum. I also thank you for taking the time to read this and taking my request for a donation into consideration.
Regards,
Zoe Flores
