Dear friends, family, and community.
I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of Joe Schneider & Loreen Andrews’ dog Zoe.
Many of you have seen, or heard, about Zoe in the Calistoga Community, while being walked by Joe & Loreen thru the park and around town.
At 3 years old Zoe had a slipped disc, that nearly severed her spinal cord. Surgery at UC Davis was partially successful, leaving Zoe paralyzed in her rear end. After lengthy rehab and acupuncture at UC Davis, she was able to relearn how to partially use her back legs.
Zoe was diagnosed with IVDD, a degenerative disk disease that can affect her entire spine over time. An MRI from 2 years ago showed that 2 other discs have already been affected, meaning life-long rehab and treatments are necessary to give Zoe a chance for a continued quality life with Loreen. These treatments amount to $4,500.00 a year.
Zoe is 6 1/2 years old now, and her fighting spirit and love for her daily walks, truly impressed her surgeon at UC Davis. Many dogs, with her condition, often don’t get the chance for this kind of medical care.
Joe & Loreen loved Zoe like a child. Joe’s sudden passing is a reminder for all of us to include our pets in our wills/trusts, to ensure future care, with loved ones, who will carry on the responsibility for continued care, and quality of life, for pets who lost a main guardian.
I know Joe would want Zoe & Loreen to continue their weekly trips to UC Davis, for the care she has become dependent on for the last 3 1/2 years.
Donations will go directly to Zoe’s future medical care. Please share this fundraiser on your social media platform, and with friends who may not be on Facebook, but love helping local animals in need.
If you prefer to donate directly to Loreen via check, or cash, feel free to private message me or Loreen.
Thank you,
