2017 sucks
Hello Friends and Friends of Friends,
On the evening of Sunday February 28th, between 12:30 and 3:00a.m. (by my neighbours accounts), my apartment was broken into and ransacked. Luckily I was out overnight and Rowen is currently visiting with her Grandparents. The Forensics officer who came to the scene determined that the door was opened with a "bump key". My Beloved Cecil got out of the apartment during this time but thankfully, he is a smart boy and found his way back to our old home where Lowell currently lives. He is safe. Eileen is currently still very traumatized but is home safe hiding inside my kitchen cabinets.
When I returned home this morning, there was muddy foot prints all over my new rug and I immediately knew something was wrong when the cats did not greet me. Two very helpful officers and a forensics officer have come and gone and returned my apartment to me.
I've determined that just over $2000 in cash was taken as well as some Jewelry that had great sentimental value. My current need for assistance is that the cash was supposed to go into the bank today to make rent. I realize that it was my poor decision to have that amount of cash in the house in an unsecured container. I am calling the city for resources to help such as the Toronto Rent Bank, housing stablelization fund, etc, but the catch there is that I currently make too much money to qualify for their assistance and I do not get paid for the locum (substitute) position for two weeks.
I am humbly pleading for any assistance you may be able to offer a newly single parent in need. Any you may be able to spare will help. The past few weeks have been difficult and I'm trying hard to not let this break me down. Thank you for taking time to read this and thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you may be able to spare at this time.
With humble thanks,
Zoë
