Zoe's Hike for Black Women In Motion

Donation protected
I am challenging myself to hike 15.9 kilometres on one of my favourite places, Nexwlélexm (Bowen Island) to support the incredible initiative, Black Women In Motion. This youth run, Toronto-based, organization uplifts and educates Black womxn and survivors. I can think of no other place where I would like to lend my attention and resources at this time.

I will be completing my hike Saturday, July 4th. I am aiming to raise $3,000 by the end of July.

I would be honoured if you would support me on this journey.

A bit about Black Women In Motion:

"Vision

To transform our communities, where Black womxn are leading thriving lives.

We water and nurture them; they water and nurture the entire community. Black Women in Motion is a Toronto-based, youth-led organization that empowers and supports the advancement of black womxn and survivors of sexual violence. We work within an anti-racist, intersectional feminist, trauma-informed and survivor-centred framework to create culturally-relevant content, educational tools, healing spaces and economic opportunities for black womxn.

“It is my duty as community member, more importantly as a black womxn to ensure the well-being, prosperity and advancement of my people, particularly Black womxn. Black womxn have endured the unfathomable - and we are still here. We are poignant, prolific, and radiant. We draw our strength from our blackness and ancestry to fight oppression and injustice, while educating others, so that they can do the same. The Black womxn most be protected at all costs.”

In this incredibly painful time where POC are still fighting and dying daily for basic civil rights in our own communities- lets move forward together. Let's make small, decisive steps to build a safer and more just world. I commit to shift these dynamics and empower those who can empower and uplift others.

I am still at the beginning of my journey as a white ally. My heart, ears and eyes are open.

Thanks kindly for your support,

Zoë
