Our hearts are shattered as we share the devastating loss of our precious, Zoë Melana Hooper. Zoë was born into our arms and yet taken far too soon. She was deeply loved, and her tiny footprints have left an everlasting imprint on our family’s hearts.

While mourning this unimaginable loss, our family is also fighting another battle. Nerizza Flores-Hooper, is recovering from a severe medical crisis caused by preeclampsia—a dangerous pregnancy complication that is life-threatening. She spent days in a paralytic state, intubated and unable to move or speak, while her organs suffered serious damage. Though she is slowly regaining movement and strength, the road ahead is long and uncertain. Her recovery will require extensive medical care, therapy, and support.

In the middle of all this heartbreak is our brave 7-year-old Zahra, who was so excited to become a big sister, and has been deeply affected by the loss. As she navigates her own grief, we are doing everything we can to keep her surrounded by love, support, and stability during this painful time.

We hope to raise awareness about the dangers of preeclampsia, how it can escalate rapidly and be fatal for both mother and baby. If you or someone you love is expecting, pay close attention to the warning signs—high blood pressure, severe swelling, headaches, vision changes, etc; and always seek a second or even third opinion.

This fundraiser will help cover Zoë’s memorial expenses, Nerizza’s ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, and the many costs our family now faces as we navigate this tragedy and healing journey. It will also help us ensure Zahra has the support and comfort she needs to heal during this unimaginable time.
