John passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2019 and leaves behind his Mother and loving partner Amy Plag and two wonderful boys who will miss him dearly. John was a big part of the strength community in Saskatoon and Regina and represented Saskatchewan proudly at Canadian Nationals in Powerlifting. John's heart was as large as his frame and would give you the shirt off his back if he saw you needed it and he treated everyone with respect and kindness. He had a wicked sense of humor and was always great at cheering everyone up and firing his team mates up at competitions. John was so much more than just another athlete, he was always there to help anyone in need and never asked for anything in return. When we were starting up a Strongman group in Saskatoon he was there to help us build concrete stones and a Husafell stone for our upcoming Highland Games competition. If you asked John for a hand, he would be there in a heartbeat to help out.

John's family needs our help as they were left with many expenses due to John's passing and right now their focus is simply getting through to the next day. I'm asking all John's friends, his teammates and the entire strength community to help out at this time to raise at least $5000 to take care of this finical burden on the family. John would be the first one to help out if the situation was reversed. Thanks again for donating to this cause, it is greatly appreciated!
