With heavy hearts, I am sharing the sudden passing of my sister-in-law’s father, Jamie — who was also “Papa” to our children and someone deeply loved by our family.

Over the past year, Jamie had been making meaningful efforts to improve his health and rebuild important relationships, especially with his daughter and granddaughter. It meant so much to see him becoming more present and involved again.

Last Thursday, Jamie suffered a cardiac arrest. After several days in the ICU, surrounded by loved ones hoping for a miracle, the family was faced with the heartbreaking decision to let him go peacefully due to severe brain damage.

This loss comes only three years after the passing of her brother Corey, making this an especially difficult time for the family. She traveled from Ontario to Alberta to be with her father, and between emergency travel, time away from work, cremation costs, and ongoing expenses, the financial burden has become overwhelming.

As family, we are doing our best to support her, but after the tremendous emotional and financial strain our family has already endured over the past few years, resources are limited. I wanted to create this fundraiser to help ease some of the pressure she is carrying while trying to grieve and honour her father’s memory.

Jamie himself wished for a small and meaningful celebration of life, and any contribution toward helping make that possible would be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser or keeping the family in your thoughts means just as much.
