Huskies’ Health Outreach (HHO) is a new student activities club at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona. Our club’s purpose is to aid in the progression and development of local, health-related, non-profit organizations. Our first project of the year is very close to our hearts. We hope to install a special-needs-friendly swingset at the Paseo Vista Park so that all of the kids with physical or mental disabilities can still go to the park and play with park facilities outside.
At Hamilton High School, one of our very own math teachers has a son with Cerebral Palsy. Most of the students participating in the club have had him as a teacher, and know both him and his son as important members of our community. This project was a personal request from him, and we want to do everything we can to make it happen. HHO is sure that this project will not only benefit his family, but hundreds of others in the valley. We, as students, are in contact with all of the kids in the Best Buddies program at Hamilton along with other high schools in Chandler.
The total cost to install all of the park facilities (swingset, as well as ramps and poles necessary for wheelchair use) comes to $1987.60. Our goal is to reach this sum by December 13, the week before Winter Intersession starts. Huskies’ Health Outreach would really appreciate it if you would take the time to donate to our cause.
