Life is very fragile and unpredictable… This time it took an unexpected turn on a beautiful Zmuda family. Going into the festive weekend of Thanksgiving they had plans to spend time with family and friends in Wisconsin. However, fate had different plans for them. That fatal early Friday morning of November 23rd Robert Zmuda slipped on the stairs, fell and hit his head on a concrete. His wife Ineta found him lifeless in a puddle of blood. He was rushed to the hospital where brain surgery was performed due to the bleeding and swelling on his brain. Like that wasn’t enough he caught pneumonia and his body fighting not only ineffable pain but also high fever and sharp cough. Even in the worst dream this couple, who have been married for 15 years, couldn’t foresee that the house, they recently moved in and were nesting with such a joy and happiness will become a place of tragedy. The future is very hazy and uncertain not only for Robert, a wonderful father to 3 beautiful girls, but for the whole family. Best scenario- long 8-12 months of recovery, worst-loss of speech and/or memory, ability to move and use other senses, emotional and behavior changes and any brain diseases. Even though it’s been short time after misfortune the burden Ineta will have to carry is clear: mortgage, medical bills, everyday expenses will take their toll very soon as Ineta will have to put her photography career on hold and support her husband at this difficult time. Let’s get together and help this family to have the hope and trust that the day will rise when they will be making and preserving their family’s memories just like Ineta helped many of us to capture and preserve ours in her breathtaking photos. As she sits patiently besides Robert, holding his hand and listening to the girls asking for him to wake up and go home, she needs to know that she can count on so many people as we always were able to count on Robert’s big heart and willingness to help.
