Hope for Alex

In December 2020, Alex was diagnosed with a super rare cancer called ocular melanoma. She was hoping for the removal of the tumor yet ended up with enucleation, removal of her eyeball due to the size of the tumor. This came with a lot of maintenance: MRI scans, bloodwork, chemo, surgery, and numerous trips to the city. Her scans up until this past April were clear. On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, Alex received the devastating news that the melanoma has spread to her liver. She has tumors on her liver that are cancerous and need to be removed. Alex’s future is uncertain, yet one thing is certain…..she will need support in so many ways. Her husband Anthony and her 4 year old son, Hudson are her backbone, her caregivers and her everything. They are preparing for a long recovery and a path paved with mounting medical bills and expenses. Alex will not be teaching summer school and there will be a multitude of bills on the horizon.
