Sponsor Tim's Team, the Freebirds

The Greenwich Village Little League (GVLL) was an important community for our friend, fellow board member, and baseball coach Tim Lalumia.  Tim was a presence, on the field with the kids and fellow coaches and parents, and at GVLL Board meetings as a coordinator, and eventually a hilarious and creative writer of our meeting minutes. 

All of us at GVLL miss Tim and want to help honor his memory.   We decided to do this in two ways.  This season all GVLL coaches and managers will have a TL logo on their jersey sleeves in Tim’s honor.  Second, we asked Trevor to come up with a “sponsor” name to be printed on the back of a Majors team uniform.   Trevor came up with “Freebird” and we think its perfect!  Tim had many unique attributes…. "Freebird” brings some of them to mind.  Tim was an independent spirit, outspoken, creative and more.  As the current president of GVLL, and someone who worked closely with Tim, I am so pleased to have a team play in his honor.  Tim’s friend, and fellow GVLL board member, Todd will coach the “Freebirds” and we will post the schedule on this page so that all of you will be able to go and root for Tim’s team.  We think Tim would be so pleased to know he could bring his friends and family together to enjoy baseball at JJ Walker Field.

The cost of sponsoring a team, creating patches, and giving extra uniforms to Tim’s family will be about $1200.  If we raise more than this, we will decide with Tim’s family the best way to honor Tim with all additional funds (including sponsoring a team next year or supporting causes that Tim’s family asks us to support).   We will update all through this website how we spend the funds after we sponsor Tim’s team.    We need the funds as soon as possible as we are building teams now and gearing up for our Spring 2016 season.
