Support Matt’s Road to Recovery
Andrea and Matt are so incredibly thankful for all of the support, prayers, and donations. We are beyond grateful for each and every one of you. Please continue to share — Matt still has a long road to recovery ahead. Thank you all so very much!!! ❤️
3/1: Update from Andrea!!
Things have been pretty stable over the last few days, with no major changes. I was able to help him sit on the edge of the bed by myself today, and he tolerated it for 10 minutes — such a big win!
Right now, our biggest challenge is managing his pain. They’re continuing to closely monitor his swelling, drain output, and labs.
Seven days in the hospital is starting to take a big emotional toll on all of us, especially the girls. They were able to visit again today, which was wonderful — until it was time to leave and they cried, begging us not to go.
We’re praying we can all be back home together very soon.
Our hearts are heavy as we share that Matt was involved in a devastating car accident while on his way to work. Just two miles from his job, his vehicle went off the road around a curve. He tragically lost control after overcorrecting, and the car flipped three to four times, throwing Matt from the vehicle.
By the grace of God, a coworker witnessed the accident and immediately called 911. Matt was life-flighted to UofL, and we know how incredibly lucky he is to be with us today.
Matt is currently stable but has sustained severe injuries, including a pelvis shattered in multiple places and significant internal trauma. He has required several blood transfusions, and doctors continue to monitor ongoing internal bleeding. He underwent emergency surgery to stabilize his pelvis with a bilateral external fixator, as well as surgery for additional traumatic injuries.
Matt faces at least six weeks of bed rest and a very long recovery ahead. He will be unable to work and will require full assistance at home.
If you know Matt, you know he is hardworking, devoted to his family, and always willing to help others. Now it’s our turn to surround him, his wife, and their three daughters with the love and support they need.
Please consider donating, sharing this page, and lifting Matt up in prayer. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference as the family navigates the months ahead.
We are beyond grateful that he is still here with us. Now, we focus on healing.
Thank you for standing with Matt and his family. ❤️
