Help support Rita with her battle with cancer

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

My name is Tristan, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart to share the difficult journey my wife, Rita, and I are facing. I met Rita in 2019, and we married in Nepal, finally reuniting in Australia after the challenges of COVID. The time we’ve spent together here has been precious, but our lives were turned upside down when Rita was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in February 2024. The cancer had already spread to her liver and ovaries.

We’ve been fighting this battle with everything we have, combining chemotherapy with natural treatments. There were initial signs of hope—her liver responded well to the treatment, and she even underwent surgery to remove affected tissue. For a time, we were hopeful, with doctors telling us she only had a few more chemo treatments and would be ok.

But in September, we received devastating news. A PET scan revealed that the cancer had continued to spread and was now affecting the lining of her stomach. This means a third surgery is required in under six months, and our doctors have advised that the current chemo regimen may no longer be effective.

In the face of this, we’ve decided to try an alternative treatment that costs $36,000. We’re already six weeks into this new therapy, and we’re beginning to see some positive results, but we’re struggling to keep up with the financial burden. As her full-time carer, I’m juggling the demands of caregiving and work, traveling to and from the city for treatment but we are without family nearby to help. The financial strain is overwhelming, and we’re at a point where we need help to continue Rita’s treatment.
