Jordan Bateman's Liver Transplant Journey
Donation protected
My name is CJ Bateman, my brother Jordan was diagnosed with end stage liver disease in November 2021.
"The Call", that would change everything!
Shortly after Jordan's diagnosis, Jordan experienced internal bleeding, and liver and kidney failure. Jordan was admitted to The Medical Center of Aurora (11/16/21) and placed in ICU for nearly two weeks. There were so many ups and downs, mostly downs as Jordan's condition worsened. Several machines and monitors were hooked up to Jordan. Days and nights went by, and Jordan was getting worse. I'll never forget the night the Dr.'s told us there was still, "hope", but Jordan's condition was grim. As you might imagine nobody slept well that night. Over the next couple days, Jordan was showing signs of improvement and little by little the machines were removed. Jordan was released from the hospital on 12/01/22. Christmas came early!
Jordan had in-home occupational and physical therapy for several weeks after being released from the hospital. Jordan was starting to feel a little better until receiving the news that he tested positive for Covid.
Jordan was scheduled (twice) for a liver transplant evaluation at UC Medical Center. (Both were canceled)
1st Evaluation: Jordan tested positive for covid.
2nd Evaluation - Jordan was admitted to the hospital and too sick to go.
Jordan was admitted to the hospital again, at the beginning of February. Jordan was bleeding internally and received platelets and blood transfusions for several days. Jordan would require surgery to repair the source of the bleeding. UC Medical Center and Aurora Medical Center were collaborating on Jordan's condition and decided he should be moved to UC Medical Center. UC had previously met Jordan and knew his condition was very critical and time was of the essence. Jordan completed a liver transplant evaluation and was approved to be added as #1 on the National Transplant List on the day of 02/10.
During the evening of 02/10, Jordan received "The Call" that would save his life. They had a donor liver that matches Jordan's blood type, etc. Jordan accepted and was taken for liver transplant surgery just hours later. Jordan's transplant was successful, and he is recovering with in-home care and therapy, and several in-patient visits weekly.
Jordan has a long road of recovery ahead. Jordan's medical expenses are mounting so any donation will be appreciated!
Thank you so much everyone!
