We’re John and Haley, and we’re sharing something deeply personal because it’s also deeply important to us. For some time now, we’ve been on a journey to grow our family. After a year of trying to get pregnant with no success, John began fertility testing, including semen analyses, hormone testing, and genetic testing. The results showed that he has severe oligospermia, though doctors couldn’t identify a specific cause. Because of this, our doctors have recommended IVF (in vitro fertilization) as our best and possibly only path forward.

As many of you know, IVF is a wonderful but expensive process, sometimes requiring more than one attempt. We are have started the process with Wilmington Fertility Center and were told to be prepared for roughly $35,000 but exact price could vary. The cost breakdown is as followed:

IVF Cycle- Ultrasound, hormone monitoring, egg retrieval, sperm preparation, anesthesia, embryo transfer, post op care: $9,000

Initial Work up- Includes ultrasound, bloodwork, semen analysis, follow visits, biopsy- $1,575

IVF cycle freeze- includes ultrasound, hormone monitoring, egg retrieval, sperm preparation, anesthesia, post op care, embryo storage- $8,625

IVF cycle thaw- Includes pre-op, ultrasound, hormone monitoring, embryo transfer, post-op care- $ 4,125

Embryo biopsy- Includes biopsy of 10 embryos- $2,000

Medication- Includes all medication needed- $3,000-$6,000

Other costs associated with IVF- includes ICSI, embryo freezing, additional anesthesia, assisted hatching- $6100

Total Cost- $34,425-$37,425

While we are doing everything we can financially, this journey can place a heavy burden. That’s why we’ve decided to open up and allow those who feel moved to support us to be part of our story.
