If you know Blue, you know he’s the sweetest most loving dog in the world. He has been there for me and Abraham for the entirety of our relationship and has made our lives better in every way imaginable-he is truly family. Starting on Thursday 1/10, Blue started showing signs he was in pain but was walking, eating and drinking like his normal self. Yesterday things got progressively worse and he stopped being able to walk without being in a severe amount of pain. We took him to the er today and the vet suspects he is having a neurological issue with his spine. We plan on taking him in the morning to the neurologist and getting him an MRI. We have been quoted $4-6k for this procedure. Blue is our whole world and at the age of 8, he has so much life ahead of him. We please ask for any contribution you are able to give. UPDATE: We went to the neurologist with Blue yesterday 1/15. He is almost positive Blue has a condition called IVDD(a herniated disc in his spine). To be 100% positive with this diagnosis, Blue needs an MRI which they quoted us $4,660 for. Without this, strict crate rest is an option but we can’t be positive it will help considering we don’t know his diagnosis 100%. If the Dr is accurate and he does have a herniated disc, we have two options. Strict crate rest which does have a good recovery rate but has 40% chance of relapse. Surgery gives Blue a 95% chance at a full recovery and an extremely low chance of relapse. We really want to pursue surgery-the only thing limiting us from doing this is the price. Being that we are getting married in two weeks and have a very limited amount of savings- this surgery is very out of reach for us. The surgery will be $14-$17k total with the MRI. Blue really is our soul dog and we want to give him the absolute best chances of having a normal life again. He has given us so much support and joy throughout his life.
