Hi, My name is Andre I'm a middle school choir teacher and the only child of a gay single father. He raised me (what felt like) single handedly. However, upon reflection it took a community of people. Now, I'm reaching out to my community of people to help me help him. My dad is living with Diabetes and has recently had his first toe amputated. He just started a new job, has no savings, and doesn't have any paid leave available. Although, they were able to place him on unpaid medical leave while he recovers so he'll have a job to go back to when he's recuperated. This is where we come in. I've come out to Phoenix where my dad lives to help with cleaning, cooking, and general errand running. I'm living on a teachers salary living in the Bay and I can't afford to pay my and his rent, transportation costs, and groceries. I avoided reaching out because as an only child I feel like this is my burden to carry alone. However, I realize this is a toxic approach that is centered in individualism instead of community, I'm raising $4,800 in order to cover 3 months of rent as well as groceries and transportation during this time. Any help (even a share) you can spare is greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
All the Best,
