Dear friends and family,
as most of you knew Shawn, my ex-husband and Sam’s father, had a heart attack and suddenly passed away on February 24. We are beyond shocked as he was only 56. None of us were prepared for the incredible pain this caused in all our hearts, especially Sammy’s.
I’m not going to sugarcoat it, Shawn was suffering from depression for a long time. He didn’t seek help and succumbed to alcoholism, as many do. He had liver failure which caused him to have a heart attack and within 7 hours of Sam finding him mid heart attack, he was pronounced dead. This all happened on February 24. I rushed to California from where I was as soon as I could. We had a memorial for him in China Camp 5 days later and have been mourning and in shambles since. Shawn loved Sam very much, but he didn’t leave a will as there is not much left. He has some money in the bank but Sam is not able to access it until he has the death certificate and a document from the court appointing him as heir. We’re told this can take 6 to 12 weeks.
Meanwhile Sam had to quit work so he can move out of the place he has been living with his dad for the past couple years. I am helping with what I can, covering his rent for the month, car payment, insurance, cell phone and dump runs, etc as Shawn made sure to leave a huge amount of “stuff” for us to deal with. Again, I’m not going to sugarcoat it, if you knew Shawn, you know he was a hoarder and oh boy we have already done four dump runs and it still doesn’t look like we’ve done much lol.
Back to this, I cannot afford to pay for everything as I currently don’t have a job and am traveling with my husband for work and are on a one income.. but Sam still needs to eat and pay other bills so I am reaching out to you guys to ask if you can please send him a few bucks, whatever you can part with so he can live comfortably while dealing with his grief for the next few months until he’s back on his feet.
