On August 21, 2025, our family experienced an unimaginable loss. My sister, Debbie Culbertson, passed away after a battle with breast cancer.

Debbie was diagnosed in July 2024 and faced chemotherapy and radiation with strength and positivity. She even planned a family trip to Texas so we could all spend time together with our dad and extended family. We gathered in Lubbock on August 20, 2025 excited to be under one roof. Sadly, our second day together became our last. Surrounded by loved ones, Debbie’s body gave out far too soon, and despite our efforts, we could not revive her.

We had to bring Debbie home to Minnesota. The funeral home that has helped us through past family losses worked closely with us, but the costs quickly added up.

Debbie had taken out a life insurance policy after the passing of our other sister, wanting to make sure her family would be protected. Tragically, the policy required two full years of premiums before paying benefits—Debbie passed away just four months short of that mark.

Now, my brother-in-law, Dustin Culbertson, who is already working two jobs, is left with over $20,000 in expenses for transportation and funeral costs that the insurance will not cover.
