Fighting for Erin

Hello. For all those that know and don't know us. My name is Sabrina and my best friend is Erin. We have now been best friends for 26 years. We met one day at the bus stop in Carmella Gardens in 1992 and our fate was sealed. BFFs. Since high school, we have grown up, obtained degrees, established careers, had relationships and children. We are now hard working single mothers trying to maintain and give our kids the best life possible. I am a nurse and she is an art teacher with a masters degree, soccer coach, and newspaper deliverer. She teaches at a local catholic school, coaches through Soccer Shots, and delivers The Toledo Blade. We are both geminis but polar opposites, we fit like puzzle pieces. We make each other whole.
Now, we have struggled and fought for our own over the years and always somehow make it with the help of each other. Whether emotionally, physically, or financially. But right now, Erin is facing a battle that no body should ever have to endure. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer. It was caught early but still devastating to her life. She is know facing chemo, surgery, and radiation. You know what though, "We got this." This is what I have said since day 1, making it our rally cry.
I am doing this page to ask for help to take care of her. Anyone who knows me, knows I don't ask for help unless I am in dire straights, please help. On day 1, when she called me, I lost it. How, why, our lives are good right now, seriously? Were all the thoughts going thought my head. Day 2, my nursing senses went into overdrive. Instantly,I called my mom. "We need to make her home safe for when she comes home with no white count." Mom replied with no questions, "figure it out, we'll do this." I have also recruited my brother and friends to take on this rehab. We are all still working and living our lives but putting these needs before our own.
The point of this page is her home is need of some serious updates just to make it safe for her. The carpet is extremely old, who knows what is growing in it. The sliding door was installed incorrectly and has been leaking into the foundation for years causing alot more problems than visible. There are sub floor and foundation problems that now need to be taken care of. As anyone in construction knows, find one problem, ten more surface. We are fighting every project that we do. I am not asking in haste to make her home pretty, I am asking to make her home safe for when she is sick and I nor anybody else can do anything else for her except keep her safe.
Thank you to all of our family, friends, ones that don't know us that read this and take it into their heart to contribute. God bless.
