On February 15, 2026, we lost my little sister, Kayla Rose Bernabe. She was a beautiful spirit who brought happiness to so many. She was unapologetically herself—bright, colorful, and radiant. She embraced who she was without ever dimming her light. She loved with her whole heart and was deeply loved in return.

Kayla struggled with her mental health for most of her life. Although she fought hard, we tragically lost her to suicide. Her passing is a reminder of how important it is to support each other, to listen, and to reach out for help when it’s needed.

The loss of Kayla has left a space in our hearts that can never be filled. While we navigate this unimaginable grief, we are also faced with the unexpected costs of laying her to rest.
