We need food

My name is Mohammed, and I’m a photojournalist from Gaza

Almost two years ago our home was destroyed in an airstrike and since then me and my family have been moving from place to place trying to stay safe. I live with my elderly parents my sisters and their small children and we’ve been displaced ever since with no permanent shelter and very little access to even the basics

Food is becoming almost impossible to afford. Just recently one bag of flour cost us around 300 dollars and that only lasted a bit more than a week. Most of the time we only have canned food and often not even that. We’ve all lost a lot of weight and even suffered from health issues because of it. The kids especially are struggling and it’s really hard to watch and feel helpless

Before the war I used to earn a living through my work as a photojournalist. But now the media is so full of stories and images from Gaza that it’s very hard to find anyone willing to pay for my work. So right now we are surviving only through the kindness of others

Any support would go straight towards buying food for my family and if by chance there is any left over, which is unlikely, it will be saved for when a safe crossing opens so we can try to move to a safer place. I’m also open to doing any kind of freelance photography work, if someone has a use for it, I just want to be able to do something to provide for my family again
