8822 Lee County Robotics

Our mission is to bring real world opportunities in STEM education to Lee County high school students.

The Lc3 Thunderbirds had a successful first season. They placed 40 out of 45 at the regional competition in Iowa. However, the judges were so impressed that they awarded the team the Rookie Allstar Award for their hard work, perseverance, and gracious professionalism shown to other teams. This earned the team a spot in a lottery system for the international competition in Houston. Last Monday, they received word they qualified. Their robot needed repairs, and they were faced with the challenge of raising $10,000 dollars to fund the trip. 36 hours later, they were on the road. In Houston, they worked hard to make repairs and upgrades to their robot. The team scored the highest ranking for a rookie team in their division, earning them the Rookie Seed Award. They ranked 31 out of 75 teams, ranking higher than many experienced teams. In the entire competition, only one other rookie team achieved a higher ranking scoring. The Lc3 Thunderbirds are the 2nd highest-ranking rookie team in the world.

We need your help to continue our mission to fly higher and grow as a team and STEM community.
