We'll get by, with a little help from our friends

Hi, friends! It's me, Amanda! I am reaching out today to ask for a bit of help. Some of you may know that, since the beginning of 2022, my mom, Cheryl Keller, has been struggling with some health issues which her diabetes has complicated. In January, she was hospitalized overnight due to an infection which doctors were unable to locate and while she was there, she was also diagnosed with Covid. She was treated for the infection, and it seemed to have resolved until a little over a month later, when she was hospitalized again. This time, the infection was located, and her gall bladder was removed. Two weeks ago, Mom was planting flowers in the front yard and lost her balance, causing her to fall and hit her head. At the time, we worried that she had suffered a stroke. (This was ruled out, thankfully!) This time, however, another infection was located inside some of the bones in her foot, which had spread and caused a bacterial infection in her blood. The doctors performed surgery, removing some of the bones in her foot and a skin graft to repair an ulcer that had developed due to the infection. She was released from the hospital a few days ago but will need frequent home health care and IV antibiotics for at least two months. The home health nurse will come once per week to check labs, a wound care nurse will come three times per week, and a physical therapist will also be coming to see her, but the frequency has not yet been determined. After the initial antibiotic course, she will still have a grueling four months of recovery for her foot, during which time she will not be very mobile and will need a lot of help.

I have been working as much as possible during this time. Still, since there is no daily nursing help, I have been trained to administer the IV antibiotics and monitor her, and I cannot be away for long periods. Missing work, coupled with the expense of this medical care, is becoming more and more difficult, and this has caused much financial strain. We have applied for assistance through several organizations but have not yet been approved for any help. So we are asking you, friends, if you are willing and able to help, please donate to get Mom on the road to recovery and lessen the financial burden so that I can be with her as she needs me now. I appreciate anything you can do to help and request prayers for a speedy recovery for my mom.
