Zita needs our help.

Our sweet girl has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, a condition that affects her thyroid and overall health. After speaking with Dr. Gill, we’ve learned that the best and most effective treatment for Zita is radioactive iodine therapy.

This treatment is offered at Iodine Café, one of the few clinics that provides this specialized care.

Radioactive iodine (RAI) is considered the gold standard treatment for hyperthyroidism in cats. It’s a one-time, carefully tailored oral dose that works in an incredible way. Thyroid cells naturally absorb iodine, and when radioactive iodine is given, those overactive thyroid cells take it in and are safely destroyed.

What makes this treatment so special is how targeted and gentle it is. The radiation only travels a few millimeters, meaning it destroys only the abnormal thyroid tissue and does not harm other organs or systems in the body. Healthy thyroid cells remain protected, allowing Zita’s body to return to normal function.

This gives her the best chance at a full recovery and a healthy, comfortable life.

The cost of treatment ranges from $2,850 to $3,250 + GST, depending on the dose Zita needs. While this treatment offers the best outcome, it comes with a financial burden that we cannot manage alone.

We are asking our community, and anyone who has ever loved an animal, to help us give Zita that chance.

Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to her treatment. And if you’re unable to donate, sharing her story would mean the world to us.

Thank you for being part of Zita’s journey
