Title: Help Zion Attend Her Dream School

Hello, my name is Zion Trowers, and I’m reaching out with hope and gratitude in my heart. This fall, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to attend Spelman College, my dream school and the #1 HBCU in the nation. I've worked incredibly hard to get here, graduating at the top of my high school class with a 4.8 GPA, serving my community, and dedicating myself to leadership and service; I was once chosen as a delegate for the National Congress of Future Medical Leaders. As a first-generation college student, I decided to attend Spelman College because of its strong educational programs in STEM fields, its alumnae network, rich culture, and history, which I found to be a community of like-minded black young women like myself.

Unfortunately, I have hit a financial roadblock that is preventing me from making this dream come true. Spelman College costs over $50,000 per year, and I don’t have even half of the cost. My mother was encouraged to apply for the Parent PLUS Loan. The loan application, however, was denied, and that was the last and final resort to pay off the remaining balance. My mom is a single parent, so she doesn't have much financial help. My father couldn't support me because my grandfather passed away, followed by my brother's death just two weeks later.  The emotional and financial toll has been heavy.

Despite all of this, I remain focused on my ultimate goal of becoming a Cardiothoracic surgeon and one day opening a hospital that serves underserved communities like my own, as well as establishing my nonprofit organization to give back to the community.  Spelman has always been a dream, and it represents everything I've worked hard for. There's no way I can let an opportunity like this pass me by, since not many people get in. I refuse to let my finances stop me now from achieving my goals and aspirations. Any contribution, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to my goals, and I am asking for your support to cross this hurdle on my journey and turn my dreams into reality.
