Zions Health Journey
Donation protected
Hello! We are Wes and Candy Zollicoffer and we are raising money to help cover expenses while our son Zion is in the hospital. Zion is 3 years old and underwent multiple organ transplant surgery on September 15, 2023 to replace his liver, pancreas and bowels. Zion was diagnosed with Peutz Jeghers Syndrome at 15 months. At that time he was the youngest person diagnosed with the most complicated case that Doctors had ever seen (nationally). Peutz Jeghers Syndrome can cause polyps to form throughout the body. At 15 months, Zion underwent his first surgery and a 6 1/2 week hospital stay to remove polyps. This procedure was life saving and also put him on a journey with developmental delays, hospital stays and regular procedures to keep him healthy. The reason for the transplant is due to irreversible damage to his liver, pancreas and bowels from a very large polyp that sat on his portal vein. The portal vein is a major vessel in our body. Read more at the link to better understand what Zion has been experiencing.
The last 1 1/2 years we have watched Zion endure through chronic pain and hospital visits and yet our little warrior still has so much joy and love to share. After the final surgery is complete (connecting bowels), he will have an ostomy bag for about 6 months and and a temporary feeding tube. There is much more to his story and we are thankful he will be here to share it! Thank you to everyone for your prayers, love and support. We are truly grateful for our village both near and far.
