Zion Philip-Grant – dearest son, brother, friend

Donation protected
Loved by all who knew him, 19-year-old Zion Philip-Grant was a kind-hearted and respectful young man; the peacemaker who made sure everyone around him acted with respect towards one another. Zion was fiercely protective of his loved ones and was always willing to offer support and a helping hand when needed. Zion was bubbly and determined to make his mark on the world through his love of music, which grounded him and inspired him. Zion’s potential was unfortunately not realised due to his untimely passing.

The family and friends of Zion Philip-Grant are in a state of grief and devastation at the sudden and unexpected loss of their son, brother, cousin and friend. While on holiday in St Anns, Jamaica, Zion became ill and after subsequent stays at two hospitals, he tragically passed away. Zion leaves behind his mother (Miranda Philip) who is now grieving the loss of a second child, older sister and younger brother, who are all overcome with shock and despair by the loss of their loved one.

The family and friends of Zion Philip-Grant are asking for the help of his community through community fundraising, the purpose of it is to support in the repatriation and transportation of Zion’s body from Jamaica back to his hometown, London, and for his final arrangements as he is laid to rest. The family will also need support with legal fees associated with organising and paying for an autopsy, independent Pathologist, and additional tests to be carried out in Jamaica as the circumstances surrounding Zion’s death are still unclear. The sudden nature of Zion’s passing, and the mounting costs in bringing him home to rest has heaped immense emotional and financial stress on the family, most of all on Zion’s mother, who is a single mother of 4. This is an incredibly painful and traumatic time for the family and support from the community would relieve some of the strain of navigating these distressing circumstances.

We, the close friends and loved ones of Zion, express our profound sadness and grief at the loss of our beloved boy. Zion was the source of incredible joy and love for all of us, and we are utterly heartbroken to hear that his life has been so suddenly cut short. Zion was a beautiful soul. He will be remembered as a lover of music, inspiring friend, son and brother. He was incredibly talented; brave beyond his years; someone we will remain in awe of. He was a friend to everyone and anyone, and we will cherish the moments of laughter, curious conversations and warm love, all which will be held dear in the hearts of his friends, family and all those who saw the brightness of his light.
