Zion’Joy is back in the hospital we had a few months of peace and then just could not walk or stand. She is a medical mystery. I’ve exhausted my sick leave back in October of 2023. So I don’t get paid if I do not show up to work. As a single parent with my income to support our home the decision is still easy but I’ve updated the go fund me because the last funds had been used to pay medical expenses and this will be the same.

Hi my Name is LeDonna I am a solo Medical parent to a medical rare and complex 6 year old child. She has a rare Neurological Disorder called Acute Flaccid Myelitis. Many of you all know me and my daughter as that Midlife Mama and The Jr CEO on our fb blog.

We have been In the midst of our own private storm these past almost 4 weeks.

1) She woke up on the 17th of September and could not walk or stand. I rushed her the E.R. That was familiar with her Rare Neurological Condition Acute Flaccid Myelitis she is 1 of 900 children in the world. Zion was given an MRI & a Lumbar puncture while being admitted to the hospital.

the next day she could stand and walk the hospital discharged her and we went home.

In the midst of that our rental home flooded.

2) 3 days later Zion was being admitted to the hospital for the 2nd time again for migraines, vomiting and seeing things upside down. The MRI showed spinal leakage from the first Lumbar Puncture (Aka spinal tap) The doctors all talked about a Lumbar patch

The final say was a doctor the anesthesiologist who decided not to do the Lumbar Patch surgery.

The Anesthesiologist, sent my Zion home with prescription of Caffeine pills and Tylenol. Instructions to lay on her back to heal. FOR A 6 year old

3) A week later she was admitted for the 3rd time this time to do a Lumbar Patch. To fix what they broke. Zion suffered for a week before they would fix her.

This time it worked a lumbar patch is like a bandaid to stop the spinal fluid leakage.

4). While my daughter was recovering from the lumbar patch surgery. 1 day later as I was filling for Family Medical Leave Act my Mother Mama Peggy Died we revived her at home but she gave up the good fight at the local hospital.

5) In the midst of all of this we find ourselves back at the Hospital again the Emergency Room for the 4th time. My daughter has broken out in so horrible pain.

I’m writing this while waiting for my daughter to be seen by an on call Doctor.

As a solo working parent to my Medically Complex daughter. I AM EXTREMELY EXHAUSTED BUT I ADVOCATE ADVOCATE ADVOCATE ALL THE WHILE WORRYING ANOUT MY JOB of 22 years.

My company has been understanding but as I wait for my FMLA family medical leave act to go through. I am broke. The ER visits cost $150 each time. The bills for the treatments are astronomical and finally I’m running out of time and sick leave.

then I will not get paid and it will just be a nightmare A NIGHTMARE. Well it already is. I cannot see an end in sight when I was just beginning to . After mom passed away last week. I was her caregiver along with my sister for the past 4 years.

This is a last resort I’m humbled yet not to prideful to ask for financial support during this horrific time.

i am strong but I feel as if I’m breaking . I need to focus on my daughters health instead of if I’m going to get fired or not being able to pay the bills.
