Zimele Mission Trip
Donation protected
Hey, there!
My name is IhnJoon Hur, or as some may know me as “I.J.”, and I will be going on a Mission Trip to South Africa on September 21st thru September 30th with Metro Community Church’s Single Ministry! We will also be going with Zimele USA, an organization that Metro Community Church has been a part of for over 12 years!
In Zulu (isiZulu), the word zimele means “to stand on your own feet”. Their mission is to confront the root causes of poverty by uplifting women, who are the poorest of the poor, and enable them to believe in their ability to work their way out of poverty. If you would like to know more about Zimele and their work, please follow this link: http://zimeleusa.org/about
I, myself, am not a fan of short term mission trips, but my three short reasons to go on this trip are for the following:
1) Short-Term dates with a Long-Term investment; This is not about what I, the individual, have to offer, but it is about what I, as a representative of the collective whole of Metro Community Church, have been and will continue to invest into through Zimele’s work.
2) Partnership: WITH thou, not FOR thou; What can WE do together as the body of Christ by working TOGETHER for the kingdom of God? Zimele’s model is one of self-reliance and empowerment. I do not expect to go to South Africa and “fix” anything but rather, to humbly go and serve together with the women in the villages.
3) Education, Education, Education; We need to learn from one another as a HUMAN race and learn our commonality of brokenness.
If you would like to read more about these reasons, please read this blog post: http://www.emetro.org/blog/2019/6/12/why-another-mission-trip
With this being said, I need to raise $2700 by September 1st.
Your generous donations and partnership can be given through this link or make a check payable to “Metro Community Church” with "Ihn Joon Hur’s Mission" as the memo and mailed to 291 S Van Brunt St Unit 4, Englewood, NJ 07631.
Please, join me in advancing God’s kingdom, both in South Africa and in the United States of America.
Thank you!
