Tropical Cyclone Idai has hit most parts of the Eastern Highlands in Zimbabwe - Chimanimani, Mutare, Mutasa, Chipinge and Zimunya. There are many fatalities.

People have been urged to go to higher ground. Some are sheltered in hotels or makeshift areas. There is no food or clean water.

WHAT WILL THE MONEY BE USED FOR

The funds raised will be used for relief efforts including food, shelter and water.  Our primary focus is to make sure  the money that will be raised here will purchase
- Non-perishable foods
- Clean bottled water
- Blankets
- Tents (if need be)

WHO WILL MANAGE IN ZIMBABWE

We will work with Sean Mullens who is a Pastor at One Church in Harare and Jacque Rowe Anderson who heads the Miracle Missions  in Zimbabwe. They will coordinate the efforts  together with other relief agencies to see where exactly the need is most.

We have worked with One Church during other emergencies before and we have great trust in their ability to get aid where it is needed.

HOW WILL THE MONEY REACH ZIMBABWE
The money will be sent to Zimbabwe through either WorldRemit or Mukuru.com. We are in negotiations with Mukuru so that they may not charge us fees on humanitarian grounds. All the food & supplies will be bought in Zimbabwe and then transported to Chimanimani and Chipinge for distribution.

WHO ARE WE
My name is Freeman Chari, I am a Zimbabwean based in USA.  I went to school in Manicaland and we used to travel to places in Chimanimani  and Chipinge like Biriiri , Mt Selinda nad Chikore for sports.  The predicament  they are in requires that we use whatever means is at our disposal to help.

I have coordinated a number of relief and emergency efforts in Zimbabwe through this platform. I will be working with other volunteers to fundraise but ultimately, I will be responsible to account for every cent raised on this platform.

HOW WILL WE ACCOUNT
Like we have done with these other  Zimbabwe Freedom Fund and the Cholera Relief Fund we will provide regular updates and accounting  to the satisfaction of the donors. We will try to keep records of each transaction, the food purchased and any other costs incurred. Those will be shared here and an accounting breakdown too.

Thank you all for your help.

Hello

As we wrap up, this week Ms Samu Keli Khumalo, Ms Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda & Dr Charlton Tsodzo undertook a social audit trip to all the places we built. On top of the Financial audit we felt citizens must also evaluate the impact, decision-making and procedures that were taken during the period. The purpose is for them to be the eyes and ears of the people in answering curious questions:
1. Are the things we claim to have done really there
2. Do they really serve the purpose that we said they do
3. Was there need in the first place
4. Was the job done to satisfying standards
5. What are the outstanding needs
The firm doing the financial audit was also represented. Ultimately the goal is to account to you all and also to set a bit of a standard for handling people's money.

Thank you!

Hello!!
A quick update. Both the Ndima block and the Mandara block are done. We have secured 80 chairs and desks for Mandara. Once everything is delivered we will hand over the block to the school.

At Ndima, the kids are already using the block. We are looking to add chairs and desks and officially close the project.

Below is a video from the Deputy Headmaster of Ndima expressing his gratitude and also pleading for more help since kids are still learning in 5 tents.

Thank you!
