Yesterday started out as a great Sunday for Ziggy, we went out to Long Island to our family's place. He played all day with their dogs and even went for his first swim in the pool. Unfortunately in the evening he got scared and squeezed himself through a tiny gap in the backyard gate that he dug up and bolted into traffic where he was struck by a car. We immediately rushed him to the animal ER which was luckily close by. They did an amazing job and made sure he was stable and as comfortable as can be through the night. Unfortunately he didn't come out unscathed, he was diagnosed with a Type 2 Salter-Harris fracture on the distal right femur, tissue trauma to his cruciate ligament and a long oblique/short spiral fracture of his distal left tibia. He was discharged from the ER and we  brought him directly to our vet today for continued treatment and as told to us by the ER docs and confirmed by our vet he will require surgery which we scheduled for tomorrow. I'm usually not one to do something like this but the timing of this really sucks (everything about this sucks) as I was downsized at the end of June and have yet to find a new job, so any amount that can help go directly towards his medical bills from the surgery are greatly appreciated.
