Hello everyone. Our daughter, Layla, has been in and out of the hospital since July. On September 6, our lives changed suddenly. I rushed Layla to the ER at 9pm for stomach pain that wouldn’t stop after throwing up for 2 weeks and being told by the doctor she was fine. After spending the night in the ER, they admitted her. The following night she suffered an hour long seizure that has left her with a whole set of challenges. After running test after test, finding nothing, they diagnosed her with FND. This has been a huge learning experience for all of us, as a mom my focus has been 100% on her and her recovery. She is learning how to walk again, write again, learning how to spell her name and count. When we brought her home she didn’t remember her pets, her home, her room and sometimes she forgets who her sisters are and even myself (her mom) and her dad. Most nights she has a non-epileptic seizure before bed, which takes a lot out of her. Layla is so kind and so thoughtful. She is the glue in our family, always thinking of everyone else and being the best middle kid there ever was. She gets scared not knowing if she will be herself again which is the hardest thing to hear from your child but we know in our hearts there is a plan and she will recover.

Our days are filled with physical therapy and occupational therapy. She got accepted into a FND clinic but they can’t get her in until December, but we are grateful.

Every day she has wins. Some days are harder than others but she is strong and she is brave. She will get through this but my family is asking for your help. I haven’t been able to work and the bills don’t stop. The funds will be used for her therapy and recovery.
