In loving memory Yvonne Renee Joyner

Our family is devastated by the passing of Yvonne Joyner. She was a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful, loving, real and caring. She was called on May 14th at 8:37 pm. She is survived by her hard working and devoted husband, Herbert Leon Joyner Jr, whom she has been married to for 37 years. It would have been 38 years in July. She is also survived by her two chidden Ja Von and Tyrees. She raised and taught them what it takes to survive and still have the compassion in this world today. The most important thing to Yvonne was her family.

She loved spending time and cooking for her family. She was a gifted cook, and she shared her special recipes that her mother had thought her growing up. When cooking she especially loved the sound of music. Smooth Jazz music was our family first choice! She was so talented and learned to play many instruments. She especially loved to play the electric guitar and the piano

She loved watching animal channel or documentaries of people’s lives. Her favorite show was I Love Lucy.

From 1989 until 2005 Yvonne worked at Madison Correctional Institute a correctional officer for 16 years until she was diagnosed with Lupus in 2005. Lupus affects women differently from men. For Yvonne, it was her attacking her immune system along with her kidney, lungs and her heart. She was forced to go on disability. She has been struggling to breathe for the last 15 years. It was difficult watching her struggling to breathe every day. She was so strong-willed even though her health was slowly deteriorating. She was built like a solider.

From 2015 until 2021 she battled and struggled to keep things going for husband, children and grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and she showed that by the encouraging and uplifting words that came from her God filled, loving, and caring heart! Over time, Yvonne was placed on an oxygen tank machine awaiting a lung transplant. Yvonne was also only three days away from seeing a specialist who had a scheduled her a breathing treatment that could have helped the quality of her lungs.

Yvonne Joyner was such a giver in flesh, heart and soul. She would give her last everything to help her family, friend, stranger and whomever came with an open hand in need. Our hearts are so heavy heart that it hurts badly and our bodies ache to even say the last of goodbyes. We are trying to find comfort knowing Yvonne is resting peacefully in God’s arms, and she’s not suffering with pain, worry and anxiety. No words can describe how much this hurts. She will be dearly missed. Yvonne meant everything to her family and played a special role in all of our hearts.

Donations may be made to Yvonne’s family. Any donations made are appreciated from the deepest button of our hearts. All donations will go towards medical and burial expense.
