First-year UPS pilot suffers stroke
Tim Wernimont, a 747 pilot new hire at UPS, had just completed his final training checkride a day earlier when tragedy struck. Tim was set to travel to Anchorage to wrap up his training but hadn’t checked out as scheduled Those who know Tim understand how out of character this was, Tim is a devoted family man and is never late for anything. Tim in his extreme will to live was able to answer his phone for a FaceTime call which got the ball rolling to find him.
During the night, Tim had suffered a massive stroke. He was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery to relieve the blood clot in his brain. The surgery was successful, but Tim is currently paralyzed on one side and has only begun to regain the ability to communicate. Even so, with intensive therapy, Tim could regain most or even all of his abilities, but the recovery will take weeks, months, even years. Recovery is different for every patient.
First-year pay isn’t much, and there are limits to what insurance will cover. Tim is many things to many people. A devoted husband and father, a pilot and landlord/handyman for rental properties, a Marine and friend. He was often the one people sought out when they needed help, but now he needs ours. Any donation you can give will go toward medical bills and supporting his family as they help him recover from this devastating blow. You can see how Tim is doing and message Tim and his family by visiting/joining the #TeamTim Facebook page. Thank you for your consideration.
