Hello, my name is Johanna. I am from the southeast United States, raising funds on behalf of my friend Mohammad Ramadan, who is trapped in the horrific situation in Gaza with his family. I have been in contact with him since January, and consider him and his family close friends.
These are his words:
" Hello.. I am Muhammad Ramadan from Gaza. I am 24 years old. I am telling you my story and I am in pain. I am the only one of my parents and have 9 sisters. I am married and have a young daughter who is two years old. I studied engineering and my family was proud of me. My profession was their only hope. I suffer from poor vision and have problems with the cornea of my eyes. I had more than one operation on both eyes. Because of the war, I lost my job. And my home and our source of livelihood.
Food and drink are scarce and very expensive during this period and there are not many varieties. I have not eaten lunch in 2 days because flour for bread is too expensive We go to dangerous places to buy food and drink. Danger is very close in all places.
Today I live in a tent in this cold and these insects. I cannot describe to you the ugliness of the sight. I hope you will help me and donate to me so that I can save my family from this tent. "
I will be collecting donations through my bank, and transferring them to Mohammad so that he can buy food and supplies for his family. We hope to eventually raise enough so that Mohammad and his family can evacuate and live in peace outside of the war in Egypt. The fees to leave are exorbitant, so we need your support.
Mohammad is incredibly kind and brave, and has been a true friend to me. My heart breaks for his situation every day. He has a wife and child, Ahlam, who need food and proper shelter. Children deserve to grow without fear or trauma. It will take lifetimes of healing for the world to recover from this. We cannot allow them to continue to live like this. I urge you to donate even $5, whatever you can. It means so much to both of us.
Thank you,
Johanna
